Dennis K. Lieu, professor of mechanical engineering, has been awarded the Orthogonal Medal.

The Orthogonal Medal is a national level award given annuallly by North Carolina State University to an individual or individuals who make outstanding contributions to the advancement of graphic science. The award has been presented to engineers, professors and Pulitzer Prize winners. In particular, Professor Lieu was cited for his "national and international contributions to graphics, graphics education, solid modeling, and technical animation."

The ceremony was held at North Carolina State University on April 12.
