Welcome to Computational Materials Research Lab

CMRL log plain

The Computational Materials Research Laboratory at Berkeley is headed by Professor Tarek Zohdi, and focusses on research related to finite element methods, computational micromechanics, multi-scale methods, computational modelling and simulation of granular/particulate materials and swarms.

This is the official CMRL homepage - and you can find details on the research, the people involved, and other information. Feel free to browse through.

About Us

CMRL at Berkeley comprises a group of researchers working on development of simulation tools for analysis and design using state-of-the-art computational approaches. The lab has adequate computational resources for handling design and execution of sufficiently large-scale computations. There is also an experimental ballistic testing facility located at 1110 Etcheverry - the Werner Goldsmith Impact Testing Laboratory - which can perform experimental impact tests on different material specimens using high-speed projectiles. This facility is used to benchmark the simulations performed related to material strength, and impact damage research. Check out our gallery for some pictures.
