Purpose: Cold saws are powered saws that use a rotating blade to cut material. Coolant is dispensed onto the blade to keep it lubricated and cool during cutting. Cold saws produce cuts that are more accurate, straight, and clean than on a traditional band saw. Cold saws are equipped with a fixed vise used to secure the material being cut. Additionally, the blade can pivot relative to the vise to produce angled cuts. Cold saws are typically used to cut ferrous materials (eg. steel) but can be used to cut non-ferrous materials as well (eg. aluminum, plastic).
