‘ME PhD Student Zi Jing Wong Wins Best Student Paper Award at Metamaterials 2015, the 2015 IEEE Phototonics Conference & the CLEO Pacific Rim 2015’

ME Professor&nbspXiang Zhang’s&nbspPhD student&nbspZi Jing Wong, has won the Best Student Paper Award at the&nbspMetamaterials 2015 – Ninth International Congress on Advanced Electromagnetic Materials in Microwaves and Optics. The Congress provides “”a unique topical forum to share the latest results of the metamaterials research in Europe and worldwide and&nbspbring together the engineering, physics, and material science communities working on artificial materials and their&nbspapplications from microwaves to optical frequencies, as well as in acoustics, mechanics, and thermodynamics.””&nbspWong’s award winning paper titled “”Parity-Time Optical Metamaterial Devices”” discusses&nbsphow to take advantage of the usually undesired loss to build novel parity-time optical devices with unique properties and functionalities.
