Lynden F. Davis, P.E. Is a Cal Berkeley Graduate (BSME 64) and a registered Professional Engineer in California. He is a retired Field Director for the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), where he worked to develop Sections and Student Section programs in the Western third of the United States and Canada. Before that, he was a Senior Mechanical Engineer for Bechtel National Inc. in San Francisco, working primarily on the design of the Defense Waste Processing Facility at the Savannah River Plant in South Carolina.
Prior to that, he worked as a mechanical design engineer for 4 equipment manufacturers, producing centrifugal pumps, overhead cranes, dockside container cranes and attachments for crawler tractors.
He started his college work at Sacramento State College before transferring to Berkeley. He noticed the limited laboratory facilities at Berkeley and since becoming a member of the ME EAB has supported the upgrading of the Berkeley ME shop and computer labs.
He has been a member of ASME for over33 years and has attained the member grade of Fellow. He has served a number of volunteer and staff positions, including election to Regional Vice President and is currently the Vice Chair of the ASME Foundation.
