Michael BORRUS is the founding General Partner of XSeed Capital (www.xseedcap.com) where he currently invests in opportunities that span the technical continuum from autonomous systems to AI, VR/AR and where computer science intersects with other disciplines to disrupt large markets.
He is a member of the UC Berkeley Department of Mechanical Engineering External Advisory Board and a lecturer in the Haas School of Business.. He serves on the Boards of the National Center for Women and Information Technology (NCWIT) and the Bay Area Council Economic Institute (BACEI), as well XSeed portfolio companies, AtScale, Biota, Citrine Informatics, HMicro, Lilt, Listo, Mines.io, SimplyCredit, and Fearless VR.
He led XSeed’s investments in GeneWeave Biosciences (acquired by Roche – RHHBY), OPXBIO (acq. by Cargill, Inc.), Playnomics (acq. by Unity Technologies), BrightBox (acq. by Flextronics International Ltd – FLEX) and Allopartis (acq. by Novozymes – NVZMY). He has also authored three books and over 70 chapters, articles and monographs on technology innovation, trade and investment. XSeed is his third startup.
